Here I am, me, in this moment Between my abundance and reclamation work.
Here I am, me, in this moment Between my abundance and reclamation work.

Here I am, me, in this moment. Between my abundance and reclamation work and my work with Hospice, I find myself measuring my evolution in feet rather than in inches. Miles to go, of course, but I’m taking a moment to appreciate and express gratitude. The learning continues.

Hospice has been a calling unlike no other. Last Friday I went to visit M, my first, and favorite, client so far. I have seen him 1-2 times a week for the past 5 weeks. Mostly our time consisted of me playing HandPan for him, interspersed with moments of slow-er conversation. He would regularly tell me that I was “magic”, “a magician”, before falling back into silence and just receiving the transmission. Sometimes I would read him The Radiance Sutras, which likely existed far outside the range of the Christian ideology that he was used to.

Our very first session together he’s says to me,

“So, Heaven, what do you know about it?”

And that is where it all began!

When it was time for me to depart I would always come over, take his hands in mine, look him right in the soul and tell him what a pleasure it was to be with him. Mostly it was just him and me, but a couple of times his wife of 35 years was there, as well as their big, beautiful boxer and Tommy, who would just hop up into the bed with him and lie across his legs.

Last Friday was the day I brought in my Children’s book, The Groove Goblin, to read him, as well as the folder of the original artwork, because it is bigger and easier to see than the prints in the book. His wife was there so I had her read the book while I held the artwork close enough to his face for him to see. He was in and out of consciousness for most of it, but it's the reading and the attention that was much more significant than what was read anyway. Shortly after we finished, in walked her brother and his wife, with Tommy. I played a bit of HandPan for them all then excused myself, Making sure I got in my heart to heart with M.

I was informed yesterday that he had passed that day, a little while after our visit. Wow, just wow. I guess this is part of the dance I signed up for. May we all treat each other with the love and care we deserve. May we continue to walk each other back home in the most conscious and loving of ways~
